BABIES 🐻

When you meet a mama bear and her two cubs that are only a few months old 😍

During spring, grizzly bears come to shore at low tide to feed on grasses and barnacles as they rebuild muscle and recover from hibernation. 💤

We were incredibly lucky to witness this mama and her two cubs. I still can't believe this happened! 🐻

It was an amazing day packed with adventure and wildlife sightings with @seawolfadventures on @vancouverislandnorth. I'll be sharing more from the journey over the coming weeks, so stay tuned 🤗

Quand tu rencontres une maman grizzli et ses deux oursons âgés de seulement quelques mois 😍

Au printemps, les grizzlis rejoignent le littoral à marée basse pour se nourrir d'herbes et de balanes afin de reprendre des forces et reconstruire leur masse musculaire après l'hibernation. 💤

On a eu une chance incroyable de voir cette maman et ses deux petits. J'ai encore du mal à croire que j'ai pu assister à une telle scène ! 🐻

C'était une journée magique, remplie d'aventures et multiples rencontres avec @seawolfadventures. Je vais continuer à partager plusieurs des clichés pris dans les semaines à venir, alors n'oubliez pas de venir jeter un œil à mon compte régulièrement 🤗

WILDLIFE GALORE 🌊

What a day out on the water with @campbellriverwhalewatching! 😍

We watched a whale surface again and again, spotted two grizzly brothers play-fighting on a remote beach, and came across plenty of seals and sea lions along the way.

All of this surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Discovery Islands in British Columbia. Some days in nature are just hard to beat 🤗

Nous avons observé une baleine refaire surface à plusieurs reprises, aperçu deux frères grizzlis en train de jouer sur une plage isolée, ainsi que de nombreux phoques et otaries tout au long du parcours.

Le tout dans le décor spectaculaire des îles Discovery, en Colombie-Britannique. Il y a des journées en pleine nature qu'on n'est pas prêt d'oublier et celle-là en fait clairement partie! 🤗

HAVING FUN 🐻

What a sight this was! 👀

I got really (really) lucky to witness these two grizzly bears playing together on a remote beach in the Discovery Islands in British Columbia. It's not often that grizzlies are seen hanging out together, and our guide thought they might be two young males that had recently parted ways with their mother and decided to stick together for a little longer. I still can't believe this happened 😍

J'ai eu énormément (énormément !) de chance d'assister à cette scène où deux grizzlis jouaient ensemble sur une plage isolée des îles Discovery en Colombie-Britannique.

C'est assez rare d'observer des grizzlis ensemble, et notre guide pensait qu'il pouvait s'agir de deux jeunes mâles qui venaient récemment de quitter leur mère et avaient décidé de rester ensemble encore quelque temps. J'ai encore du mal à croire que j'ai pu voir ça 😍

BALD EAGLES 🦅 When I arrived in Vancouver in Janu

BALD EAGLES 🦅

When I arrived in Vancouver in January last year, I got the chance to see a bald eagle resting in a tree while walking around False Creek in the downtown area. 🏙️

As I live nearby (just a 15-minute bike ride away), I thought I'd come back from time to time throughout the year to see if it regularly returned to the same tree. I figured maybe it was one of its favourite spots 🌲. And it sure was!

Over the last year and a half, I've been lucky enough to regularly see not one but two bald eagles (a couple, to be exact, as bald eagles mate for life).

Here are a few of my favourite shots. Which one do you like the most?

Fr - Lorsque je suis arrivé à Vancouver en janvier de l'année dernière, j'ai eu la chance d'apercevoir un aigle / pygargue à tête blanche perché dans un arbre alors que je me promenais autour de False Creek, en plein centre-ville. 🏙️

Comme j'habite pas trop loin (à seulement 15 minutes de vélo), je me suis dit que je reviendrais de temps en temps au cours de l'année pour voir s'il revenait régulièrement dans cet arbre. Je me suis dit que c'était peut-être l'un de ses endroits préférés 🌲. Et c'était bien le cas !

Au cours de la dernière année et demie, j'ai eu la chance d'observer régulièrement non pas un, mais deux pygargues à tête blanche (un couple, pour être précis, puisque les pygargues restent ensemble toute leur vie).

BEES 🐝 During my stay at Naturally Pacific Resort

BEES 🐝

During my stay at Naturally Pacific Resort, I got the chance to learn more about bees and meet a beekeeper who showed us the inner workings of a hive. It was fascinating to see thousands of bees working together with such precision and organization. 🍯

What many people don't realize is just how important bees are to our ecosystem. As they move from flower to flower, they pollinate plants that produce many of the fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers we rely on every day. 🌼

Naturally Pacific Resort supports two thriving on-site beehives that help pollinate the property's gardens while also contributing to local biodiversity. 🌿

Next time you spot one buzzing around a flower, take a moment to appreciate the important work it's doing. 😉

Fr - Pendant mon séjour au Naturally Pacific Resort, j'ai eu l'occasion d'en apprendre davantage sur les abeilles et de rencontrer une apicultrice qui m'a fait découvrir l'intérieur d'une ruche. C'était fascinant d'observer ces milliers d'abeilles travailler ensemble avec autant de précision et d'organisation.

On ignore souvent à quel point les abeilles sont essentielles à notre écosystème. En passant de fleur en fleur, elles pollinisent de nombreuses plantes qui produisent les fruits, légumes, herbes aromatiques et fleurs dont on dépend au quotidien. 🌼

Le Naturally Pacific Resort abrite deux ruches qui contribuent à la pollinisation des jardins de la propriété tout en favorisant la biodiversité locale. 🌿

La prochaine fois que vous voyez une abeille butiner une fleur, prenez un instant pour apprécier l'important travail qu'elle accomplit. 😉

WHALES, SEA LIONS & GRIZZLIES 🐳

I loved my bear watching tour with @campbellriverwhalewatching so much that I jumped on another one the very next day. And what can I say? This one was just as amazing!

This time, it was primarily a whale watching tour, so we headed south of Campbell River into the open water. We were the first boat out that morning, with nobody around to tell us where whales had last been spotted. But it only took about 15 minutes before we saw a spout rising in the distance. First whale of the day! 🐳

Whales have this incredible rhythm when they surface to breathe. This one came up every 11 minutes, not one more, not one less! We stayed in the area for close to an hour, and it was such a peaceful experience being out there early in the morning with nobody else around. 😌

We then made our way through a maze of islands, taking in the stunning coastline and mountain views along the way. 🏔️

Our next stop was a spot known for its sea lions. And well... it definitely didn't disappoint! There were so many of them. Some looked absolutely massive, and that's because they are. I learned that these are Steller sea lions, the largest sea lion species in the world. Some males can grow up to 3 metres long and weigh more than a ton! No wonder they look so impressive 🦭

On our way back, we stopped by the same beach where we'd seen grizzlies the day before. And somehow, they were waiting for us again! 🐻 This time we got an even better look as they were feeding right along the shoreline.

As we headed back to Campbell River, I couldn't help but realise how lucky I was to witness so much wildlife in such a short amount of time.
